The numbers
RFID monetisation and secured self-checkout
What the tags already on your garments are worth at the exit door.
Your tags or ours.
If you already run item-level RFID, we check your tags for compatibility and work with the population you have. If you do not, or if some categories fall outside it, we supply what is needed.
What it is worth
One store, one year.
AED 973,000
released per store, per year
- Payroll released from checkout
- AED 360,000
- Revenue unlocked
- AED 613,000
These are two different kinds of value. One is payroll the checkout function stops requiring. The other is revenue the store was not capturing. They are added because both land in the same year on the same store, not because they are the same thing.
The inputs
Four numbers. Everything else derives from them.
No survey, no pilot and no discovery phase stands between you and this arithmetic. Give us four of your own numbers and we run the same model with you.
| Store size | 1,672 m² (18,000 sqft) |
|---|---|
| Store revenue | AED 30M |
| Sales density | AED 17,943 per m² per year |
| Average basket | AED 150, about 548 transactions a day |

Payroll released from checkout
Checkout stops being a staffing line. Two positions stay permanently, for cash payments and returns.
6 checkout positions, AED 5,000 a month each, twelve months. Where those people go is your call. Redeploy them to the floor and the figure becomes selling capacity instead of cash. Either way the checkout function stops consuming it.
- 8 positions today, 2 retained
- 6 × AED 5,000 × 12 months
- = AED 360,000 per store per year
AED 360,000

Floor space released to product
The checkout area is the only floor in the store that sells nothing.
Released floor is valued below store average, because space freed near an entrance does not trade at the store's own density in its first year. That reduction is the single most challengeable assumption in this model, which is why it is stated rather than folded in.
- AED 30M ÷ 1,672 m² = AED 17,943 per m²
- checkout zone 42 m², 2.5% of floor
- kept 16 m², released 26 m² (1.6%)
- released floor at 67% of average = AED 12,022 per m²
- 26 m² × AED 12,022 = AED 313,000 per year

Queue recovery
Some shoppers see the line from the floor and put the item down. You never had a transaction, so it never appeared in your reporting.
The recovery rate below is our assumption, not a measurement and not anyone's consumer research. It is set deliberately low: the argument does not need it to be generous, and a number we cannot defend in a room is worth less than a small one we can.
- 1% of annual sales, assumed
- 1% × AED 30M
- = AED 300,000 per year
AED 300,000
The total
Per store, and across the chain.
| Per store, per year | Across 45 stores | |
|---|---|---|
| Payroll released from checkout | AED 360,000 | AED 16.2M |
| Revenue unlocked | AED 613,000 | AED 27.6M |
| Released | AED 973,000 | AED 43.8M |
The chain column is the single-store model multiplied by 45, and nothing else. It assumes every store matches the four inputs above. That is the assumption most likely to be wrong in your estate, and the cheapest one to concede here rather than in a meeting.
Loss prevention
The till disappears. The protection does not.
The security tag stays on the garment until it leaves the store, and it comes off after payment rather than before. Removing the counter does not remove the layer that was protecting the item.
Two objects, two jobs. The identity layer is what makes an item known to the system. The security layer sits above it on the lines that carry one, and never stands in for it.
| The RFID label | The reusable hard tag | |
|---|---|---|
| Layer | Identity | Security |
| Coverage | One per item | Selected high-value lines |
| At the exit | Stays on | Removed or reset |
| Your existing tags | The tag the compatibility check is about | Not part of that check |
- 01
Open the app
Scan the item and pay, in your own app.
- 02
Security status clears
On settlement, not before.
- 03
Walk through the gate
No stop, no scan, no queue.
- 04
Hard tag comes off
At the exit, self-service or by the team, on the lines that carry one.
- Queue
- None
- Wait at the exit
- None
- Protection
- Until it is paid for
The gate reads every tag that leaves. Paid tags pass in silence. Unpaid tags do not. The item is protected until it is paid for, not until it is scanned.
Live visibility
The same data you run the store on, as it happens.
Live inventory
An item-level count of what is in the building now, not what the last count said.
Shelf and sales tracking
What moved, from where, when. Sales tie to a place on the floor, not a till.
Omnichannel integration
One stock position for store and online, so a unit is not sold or held twice.
What is not counted
Six things this number deliberately leaves out.
Each one is a figure a sceptical reader will assume we quietly folded in. None of them is in the total.
Shrinkage and theft
The protocol above carries that argument. No shrink figure is in the total, on any basis.
The three capabilities
Live inventory, shelf and sales tracking and omnichannel integration contribute nothing to it.
Payments settling to your own bank
Real, and the reason we have no commission inside your transaction. Counted at zero here.
Anything on either side of the ledger
No tag hardware, no readers, no installation, and no cost of ours either.
Supplier terms, buying margin, non-checkout labour
The model touches none of them. Nothing outside the checkout function moves in it.
Year two, and anything that compounds
Every figure on this page is a single year. Nothing here grows.
Adding any of them would make the number bigger and make it worse. The strength of this page is that it is understated.
Assumptions
All of them, in the open.
| Store size | 1,672 m² (18,000 sqft) |
|---|---|
| Store revenue | AED 30M |
| Sales per m² | AED 17,943 |
| Average basket | AED 150 |
| Transactions per year | 200,000, about 548 a day |
| Checkout positions | 8 to 2, 6 released |
| Cost per checkout position | AED 5,000 a month |
| Checkout zone | 42 m² to 16 m², 26 m² recovered |
| Released space productivity | 67% of store average, AED 12,022 per m² |
| Queue recovery | 1% of sales |
| Chain size modelled | 45 stores |
- AED 12,022 per m² is 67% of the AED 17,943 sales density. The reduction is applied because floor space released does not trade at full store average in its first year.
- AED 5,000 a month is a store payroll assumption, not a Go.Smart benchmark. Use your own and the driver moves with it.
- The 45-store figure is this single-store model multiplied by 45. It assumes every store matches the four inputs.
- Each driver is rounded to the nearest thousand, and the total is the sum of those rounded figures rather than a rounding of the exact one. The three numbers above add up to the total below them, which is the point.
Illustrative model. Figures are derived from the stated inputs and assumptions above, not from a specific retailer’s reported results. Replace the four inputs with your own and we run the same model with you.
Run it on your own numbers.
Bring your floor area, your revenue, your basket and your store count. We will work through the same three drivers with you and show every step.
